What’s The Big Deal About The Golden Globes?

What’s The Big Deal About The Golden Globes?381_Golden_Globes_Logo

I’m sure most of us have heard about the Golden Globes and to a certain extent understand that it is a big deal, however, that’s where our knowledge seems to end. I thought it would be a good idea to give you a brief summary of what the Golden Globes are and who has been nominated in 2016.

Some of the films and TV shows nominated you might have watched, but the majority of the films you have probably never heard of. That’s the way with these awards; they are primarily for the film industry elites, not for the general public.

Maybe one day they will recognise blogging as the legitimate art form that I have turned it into and give me an award. A boy can only dream.

Summary of the Golden Globes:

The Golden Globes is an American award ceremony recognizing excellence in film and television. The Golden Globes have become a major part of the film industry award season, you can always look at who wins at the Golden globes to give you an idea of ,who and what , might be nominated for the Academy Award.

The first Golden Globes Award ceremony was held in 1943, so right in the middle of World War 2. This year’s events will be the 73rd ceremony and will be broadcast live on January 10th 2016; it will be hosted by Ricky Gervais for the 4th time. I wonder if this year’s ceremony will be as cringe and toe curling as the last 3 times he hosted the event.

The deciders of the Golden Globe winners are 93 members of the Hollywood press association, who are basically a collection of journalists and photographers that report on the entertainment industry.
